The Rojiblancos snatch a deal from the Calcio

Atletico Madrid sealed the signing of Canadian striker Jonathan David from Juventus in the closing hours of the summer transfer window.

The move hands Diego Simeone fresh attacking options and gives Julian Alvarez a new partner up front.

Juventus officially confirmed their agreement with Atletico Madrid for David to join on a free loan until 30 June 2027.

Buried in the deal is Atletico's option to sign the Canadian permanently for 25 million euros, spread across four financial years, should the Spanish club choose to trigger it.

David arrived at Juventus last summer on a free transfer after his Lille contract expired. His first season in Serie A fell well short of expectations, though, with just 8 goals in all competitions.

Simeone had been chasing extra firepower, and the uncertainty around Alvarez only sharpened the need. Barcelona are circling the Argentine.

Top of Atletico's list to reinforce the attack, David was the man they wanted, and they were determined to get him without saddling themselves with a heavy financial outlay from day one.
