Arnautovic: "Treble? In the final they were arresting me twice. The first to get on the bus? Balotelli"
Two amusing anecdotes about a night that became legendary for Inter fans
Former Inter striker Marko Arnautovic, who wore the Nerazzurri shirt on two separate spells during his career, held nothing back during a live Twitch stream with German influencer "Marli".
Among the many anecdotes he shared were two amusing stories about the 2010 Champions League final in Madrid between Inter and Bayern Munich, won under José Mourinho and the match that sealed Inter's Treble.
The police threw me to the ground and held me down
We had won the final, we all ran on to the pitch to celebrate and I was looking for an Austrian flag. Everyone had a flag, but I didn't. At one point I spotted a fan behind the goal and people in the stands started calling me: "Come on Marco, come here." And I, completely out of my mind, thought: "Right, now I'm going to jump in among the fans."
So I jumped in among the fans, but then I wanted to go back on to the pitch, only the stewards at that moment thought I was a fan trying to invade the pitch. The police arrived, threw me to the ground and held me there. Luckily the assistant coach arrived. I no longer had my accreditation on me, they thought I was just any fan and wanted to arrest me. He explained to them that I was a footballer".
Balotelli the first on the coach
"The assistant coach told me to stay on the pitch and then head to the dressing room. I carried on, went to the dressing room, we celebrated there, then I made my way to the coach. I thought I'd be the first to get there, but Mario (Balotelli) was already on the bus"
I risked a second arrest
"I slowly walk over to the coach and see Mario sitting inside, on the phone. So I jump up from outside and bang very hard on the window to scare him. He gets a fright.
Then all of a sudden six police officers arrive: ‘Stop, stop!’. They think I am a fan again and I end up on the ground again. Luckily the assistant coach comes back again to save me. Then he says to me: ‘Now get on the coach and don’t come out again. Stay sitting there and don’t do anything else.’
I got on the Bayern coach
"I get on the Inter bus. Then I get off again and, with my completely crazy head, nobody knows this story, I spot the Bayern Munich coach. I get on at the front of their bus and go over to Louis van Gaal.
No one even knew I played for Inter. I get on the bus and say: ‘Hey, all the best, coach. Hey, good luck guys.’ I was a complete unknown.
I swear to you, every time I tell this story people understand how crazy I was, but in a positive way. I would have gone mad if I had been a Bayern player and a stranger had got on our bus like that."
