Antonio Conte has hinted that his next move could be to a club that has drifted away from its glory days, saying he would like to restore a fading institution to its former shine.

The Italian spoke about his future in an interview with The Athletic, and said he has his sights set on reviving a fallen giant. Conte has been out of work since leaving Napoli in the summer, after two seasons with the Italian side that included the 2024/25 Serie A title.

The 57-year-old has won six career league titles across two countries and four clubs, leading Juventus, Chelsea, Inter Milan and Napoli to title triumphs.

Discussing his future, he did not name a specific club but outlined his ideal next project.

"There are many clubs that have somewhat lost sight of their history. I’d like to go to one of these clubs to dust off that history and make it shine once more."

The former Chelsea manager did not directly discuss a return to the Premier League, though did acknowledge the advantage that English teams have. He said the Premier League's financial power is like a 'bazooka' compared to a football world using 'pistols'.

“In England today they’re using bazookas, while everywhere else they’re still using a pistol,” he said.

“But we also need to be careful about how the money is spent. That’s why we were talking earlier about making the right assessments, about having a vision, because you may well have the money, but you have to spend it wisely.” He said.

His previous spell in English football included title success at Chelsea in 2016/17, after inheriting a team that finished 10th the previous year. Conte also won the FA Cup before departing Stamford Bridge, and later had a two-year stint at Tottenham Hotspur.
