Ajax get their man and pay a strikingly low fee for Viktor Tsygankov

Ajax are closing in on the signing of Viktor Tysgankov, according to Nil Solà. The Cadena SER journalist reports a fee of four million euros, plus one million in bonuses.

Solà, who is well informed at Girona, says the Ukrainian is still due to fly to Amsterdam on Monday to complete the move.

For Girona, selling Tsygankov is important. The relegated club want to take the right winger off the wage bill.

Last week, the player also fell out with his club. He refused to play for Girona last week and shared private chats via Instagram to force through a transfer, after which the Spanish club started legal proceedings.

Míchel, now Ajax head coach, knows Tsygankov well. The two worked together at Girona.

With only a one-year contract left and the dispute still hanging over him, Tsygankov is a player Girona are keen to move on. That leaves Ajax able to sign him for a very low fee. According to Transfermarkt, he is worth fifteen million euros.

Across his time at Girona, Tsygankov made 119 appearances. He scored twenty goals and supplied 23 assists.
