Ajax fans are completely fed up with their own player after a ‘disgraceful act’ in the 27th minute of Ajax v PSV: ‘Substitute him now!’
Ajax v PSV is finely poised at the break, but the mood in Amsterdam is anything but happy. Oscar Gloukh in particular is drawing plenty of frustration from the Ajax support.
Ajax again handed the Israeli a starting spot on the left wing for this top clash, but so far he has looked more unfortunate than dangerous. Efforts have been blocked and Gloukh has also struggled defensively.
Matters came to a head in the 27th minute, when Gloukh allowed his direct opponent Sergiño Dest to get away far too easily. That gave Guus Til a promising sight of goal, although his effort eventually flew high over the bar.
ESPN commentator Vincent Schildkamp also spots the problem. “Here Gloukh is basically just giving up and gesturing to his team-mates: ‘Yeah, I’m not going to get there any more. You have to sort it out,’” he said. “Gloukh simply does not have the lungs to keep up with Dest all evening.”
Ajax fans have little sympathy if Gloukh cannot live with it physically. “Substitute Gloukh now,” is a common reaction. “This is truly disgraceful,” comes another. “Gloukh is one of the worst players I have seen at Ajax.”
Meanwhile, calls are growing for Abdellah Ouazane, the 17-year-old talent who has made an excellent impression in recent weeks. “Why isn’t Ouazane playing? He is five times the player Gloukh is,” one person writes. “Gloukh into the showers quickly and get Ouazane on,” says another.
