"The Tigers" begin the season with a negative record

Al-Ittihad have entered the history books of the Saudi Roshn League through the back door, thanks to a new player featuring for the club for only the fourth time.

Al-Ittihad travelled to face Al-Qadsiah on Friday at the Prince Mohammed bin Fahd Stadium in Dammam, in the second round of Roshn League fixtures.

The trouble came two minutes into the second half. Senegalese midfielder Dion Lopy saw red after picking up a second yellow for a strong challenge on Al-Qadsiah's Portuguese forward Otavio.

Lopy collected that dismissal in only the fourth appearance he has made for Al-Ittihad since joining from Spain's Almeria during the current summer transfer window.

That leaves Al-Ittihad as the first team to be shown two red cards this season in the Saudi Roshn League, and they have played only their second match. That works out at a card a game.

Portuguese defender Danilo Pereira was the first Al-Ittihad player to see red this season, in the 1-1 draw with Al-Khaleej in the opening round.

Danilo's suspension kept him out of Friday's trip to Al-Qadsiah. Now Lopy will miss the "Tigers" next match against Al-Hazm in the third round.
