Here’s the shortened Unique Angle from Celtic’s hard fought 2-1 victory over St Mirren in Paisley last night against a St Mirren team who were looking to take the points to leapfrog Celtic at the top of the table…

Indeed the home side were ahead at the interval thanks to a penalty kick conceded by Liam Scales which was powerfully despatched by St Mirren striker Nikolas Agrafiotis.

That had the home fans chanting about being top of the league but there was still time in the second half for Celtic to turn things around. The equaliser duly arrived and it came from Liam Scales who atoned for his error at the penalty to head a Benjamin Nygren corner at the near post into St Mirren’s far post.

Scales was quick to get back to his position after minimal celebrations as he wanted a winner and after fine play from Camilo Duran for a wonderful assist, the Man of the Match Yang ran through and slotted the ball under the St Mirren keeper to put Celtic ahead.

Two goals for Celtic were controversially ruled out by the match officials and questions will have to be answered by Willie Collum about how these decisions were reached. Had Celtic dropped points then this would have been a massive story over the next few days.

But both goals are omitted from the Unique Angle as they weren’t allowed to stand. Both decisions were controversial and probably disgraceful. Let’s see what the Head of Referees has to say.
