Spain underlined their status as the best national team in the world with a thrilling 3-2 win over England to open their top-tier UEFA Nations League campaign at Wembley Stadium.

England welcomed Spain to London on Saturday evening for the first round of Group Three. The hosts led 2-1 at the break, but Spain flipped the scoreline after the interval through Oyarzabal and Baena.

The result pushed Spain's tally in the FIFA ranking to 2002.34 points. They become the first national team to break the 2000-point barrier since the current system was introduced in June 2018, according to the MisterChip account on X.

Next up for Spain is a home meeting with Croatia on Tuesday, before they take on the Czech Republic on 3 October.
