How to watch NYCFC and Real Salt Lake’s first game since 2023, time, more
With so many teams in Major League Soccer, it is probable that a few years might go by between teams meeting teams in the other conference. In this case, New York City FC will face Real Salt Lake for the first time since 2023. Fans will recall that year as being one of the worst since the Bronx side’s first season, and in the meeting, the match ended in a 0-0 draw.
Regardless, NYCFC does not have the best record against the Utah side. The team is 2-4-1 in all seven meetings, which took place in the regular season. It must be said, though, that the last four meetings took place between 2018 and 2023, and the Pigeons were 2-1-1 during that time. As such, the recent meetings have been a little better compared to the early days.
However, NYCFC’s winless streak is a major problem entering the match. The Pigeons have not won in their last seven Major League Soccer fixtures, last winning at the end of July. They had chances to do so, but have dropped too many points. Notably, Real Salt Lake is in the middle of their own winless streak in league play. The home team has not won in ten matches, going 0-6-4 since May.
With that said, one can imagine that the two sides will be desperate for a win. The recent struggles that have plagued them have been extremely disappointing. It is looking more likely that the postseason might not happen, especially for NYCFC. The Pigeons have fallen into ninth place in the Eastern Conference, and based on the points, even a turnaround now will likely lead to no higher than a sixth-place finish. Of course, they must win.

Final notes
This will be a rare late game, but the good news is that NYCFC should end before midnight. Alas, if stoppage time is outrageously insane, then that could happen. But a 9:30 PM start is not terrible.
