Ferran Torres and Ousmane Dembele link-up growing after another PSG victory

Ferran Torres scored his fourth goal in two Paris Saint-Germain games on Sunday, and he was once again assisted by Ousmane Dembele.

Torres and Dembele hadn't started a game together prior to the Champions League mauling of Slovan Bratislava on Wednesday. In that match, Torres scored a hat-trick, with two of his goals assisted by Dembele, while the Frenchman himself got on the scoresheet.

They were given the nod to start together again against Brest, and the pair were again the crucial players, with the only goal of the game scored by Torres and assisted by Dembele.

With the ball knocked into Dembele's feet from the midfield, he took only one touch, flicking it between his legs and into the path of his attacking partner, who ran on and struck from outside the box into the bottom corner.

The way the pair played once again highlights how they can have a big impact alongside one another. Though Torres started through the middle and Dembele on the right, the Frenchman often cropped up in the centre, with his team-mate floating out wide - heatmaps very much attest to that.

The amount each man touches the ball in the other's supposed position shows they are already comfortable with switching if they can create better chances in different roles.

Torres had only one shot - for the goal - while Dembele had four, so the pair are already able to notice that if one isn't having much joy, the other can become the focal point to the attack.

Two of Dembele's shots were on target, while Torres obviously scored the crucial goal in the 1-0 win - which lifted PSG to seventh in Ligue 1 - so they had a decent showing.

Torres has now scored six goals in five games for PSG, and after his latest against Brest, the new signing from Barcelona made it clear he's happy to help the team however necessary.

He said: "It's true that it wasn't our best match. I think we were very competitive, and in the end, it's also important to get this first win on a pitch that we knew was going to be difficult. Now we have another week to rest and prepare for next weekend's match, which is also very important for us.

"My goal? What matters to me is always helping the team, regardless of how much playing time the coach decides to give me, and doing my part. Whether that's through goals, assists, or my work on the pitch."
