Will he be fit for the Clasico? Real Madrid issue statement on Mbappe

Real Madrid issued an official statement this Saturday evening on the injury to their French forward Kylian Mbappé.

Via its official website, Real said: "Following the examinations carried out on our player Kylian Mbappé by the club's medical services, he has been diagnosed with a hyperextension of the posterior capsule of the left knee."

Los Blancos did not put a timeline on Mbappé's absence. But the newspaper AS confirmed the Frenchman's recovery will run from 10 to 12 days.

That means the striker will make the first Clásico against Barcelona, scheduled for 25 October.

The Clásico is far from the only date that matters. A run of big fixtures awaits the Royal club. In two weeks they host Villarreal, then travel to face Roma, before welcoming Sevilla and Leipzig to their stadium.

Mbappé picked up the injury last night, during the clash between Turkey and France in the UEFA Nations League.
