Barcelona beat Real Madrid 7-0 in Liga F on Sunday, with Clàudia Pina scoring four goals to extend the Blaugrana’s perfect start and open a five-point lead at the top. The Guardian reported that more than 40,000 fans watched the Clásico at Camp Nou, where Barcelona turned a dominant first half into a resounding victory.

Pina’s four-goal first half set up the rout

Pina opened the scoring after four minutes, finding the net after breaking into the area. Real Madrid struggled to wrest possession from Barcelona, and the hosts doubled their lead in the 28th minute when Pina finished the rebound after Ewa Pajor’s effort was blocked.

Pina completed her hat-trick a few minutes later with a strike into the top corner. Caroline Graham Hansen added Barcelona’s fourth before the interval, and Pina then scored again to make it four for the night before half-time.

Pajor scored Barcelona’s fifth early in the second half. Sydney Schertenleib completed the scoring late on with a long-range strike, while three-time Ballon d’Or winner Aitana Bonmatí came on for the final 30 minutes as she continued her return to fitness after a broken leg.

Barcelona stretch their Liga F advantage

The result kept Barcelona’s perfect league start intact and stretched their advantage over their closest rivals to five points. The club had won the title seven seasons running, and this emphatic victory reinforced its early position at the top without settling the campaign so soon.

The Guardian noted that Real Madrid had beaten Barcelona just once in 25 meetings across all competitions. The scale of Sunday’s result was striking against that history, but the more immediate consequence is a significant gap between the sides in the Liga F table.

Bonmatí returns as Barcelona look ahead

Bonmatí’s appearance was a welcome subplot for Barcelona as she builds back towards full fitness following her broken leg. The match itself had been delayed by two hours after torrential rain in Catalonia over the weekend, but Barcelona showed little sign of disruption once play began.

Barcelona’s next listed Liga F fixture is against Real Sociedad on October 18, while Real Madrid are due to face Espanyol on October 17. After a Clásico decided so decisively before half-time, both sides move on with sharply different immediate concerns.
