Remarkable: Barcelona want to offer summer signing a new contract after just one month
FC Barcelona want to renegotiate and improve Abdelkarim Hamza's contract, Fabrizio Romano wrote on Sunday morning. That is striking, given that Hamza has only been under contract in Catalonia since July.
Barcelona signed Hamza on loan from Egyptian side Al-Ahly last winter. The club had an option to buy for €1.5 million and triggered it in the summer.
That means the striker has only officially been a Barcelona player since 1 July. But he has made such an impression in pre-season that the club already want to improve his deal.
Barça also want to remove the €15 million release clause from his contract. The club fear interested sides could sign him for that relatively low fee.
Right now, the six-cap Egypt international is leading the line for Barcelona. Robert Lewandowski has left for MLS and Ferran Torres was sold to Paris Saint-Germain.
Included in Egypt's World Cup squad, the striker cut short his holiday to join Barça's training camp. He scored four goals in four pre-season matches, convincing Barça to give him a serious chance this season.
Hansi Flick is very likely to start the Egyptian on Sunday evening, when Barça play their first league match against Elche.
