Real Madrid get away with it against the bottom side in LaLiga

Real Madrid have moved level on points with leaders FC Barcelona (15), who are still in action on Wednesday. José Mourinho's side were 0-2 up against bottom club Elche on Tuesday but still threw away two points in a chaotic finish: 2-2. Super sub Espi struck in stoppage time for the winner (2-3).

Dean Huijsen was unlucky to see a powerful header kept out by goalkeeper Matías Dituro. Dituro then turned the ball into his own net after 25 minutes. Kylian Mbappé doubled the lead after good build-up play by Yan Diomande.

Vinicius Júnior looked lively and went close several times. Real Madrid led 0-2 at the break and barely ran into trouble after the restart. Then Abiel Osorio scored with 20 minutes left.

Fernando Niño completed Elche's comeback with a calm finish in the 83rd minute. The home fans erupted. Real Madrid could only look on in disbelief.

Mourinho responded by sending on Carlos Espi and Endrick in a bid to still take all three points. Time, though, was running against Real Madrid.

Espi rescued Real Madrid in stoppage time, scoring from an Mbappé assist. The visitors escaped against the bottom side and remain in Barcelona's slipstream.
