Alvaro Arbeloa will be hoping his Real Madrid side can transfer their midweek Champions League form into LaLiga
  • Real Madrid slipped up last week when losing 2-1 at Osasuna

  • Leaders Barcelona face a tough test against third-placed Villarreal

  • Levante's loss at Barca made it four straight defeats for the strugglers

It looks like a two-horse race for the LaLiga title with 13 games remaining as Barcelona hold a one-point lead over Real Madrid, who are nine points clear of third-placed Villarreal.

Real will have to wait until Monday when they take on Getafe to see if they can leapfrog their bitter El Clasico rivals, who face a tricky visit from the Yellow Submarine on Saturday.

Atletico Madrid are still clinging on to fourth spot and they face a trip to bottom side Real Oviedo, while Levante will look to edge clear of danger when hosting Alaves on Friday evening.

Levante vs Alaves (Friday, 8pm)

Levante have failed to score in four of their last five matches, losing each of the last four and they may get little out of Alaves who have drawn their last two matches and who beat Friday's hosts 2-1 earlier this term.

Four of the last five meetings have seen one or both teams fail to score and this could be tight.

Score prediction: Levante 0-1 Alaves

Rayo Vallecano vs Athletic Bilbao (Saturday, 1pm)

Athletic Bilbao are unbeaten in eight meetings with Rayo Vallecano, winning the last five and the Basques can extend that sequence this week.

Bilbao have won their last two outings 2-1 and that looks like a solid shout for this clash.

Score prediction: Rayo Vallecano 1-2 Athletic Bilbao

Barcelona vs Villarreal (Saturday, 3.15pm)

Four of the last five meetings between these two have featured five or more goals and another Camp Nou classic looks likely.

Barca can extend their lead over Real Madrid to four points and they only know one way to play.

Villarreal will be keen to keep a grip on third, though, so they can play their part in a lively clash.

Score prediction: Barcelona 3-1 Villarreal

Mallorca vs Sociedad (Saturday, 5.30pm)

Mallorca cannot escape the bottom three and their losing run of three could be extended by a Sociedad side who have lost to only Real Madrid in their last 13 outings.

It was 1-0 to La Real earlier this term, but they can go one better on Saturday, while only one of the last 12 meetings has seen more than two goals.

Score prediction: Mallorca 0-2 Sociedad

Real Oviedo vs Atletico Madrid (Saturday, 8pm)

Oviedo are rock-bottom of LaLiga having won just one of their last 17 league matches and they are unlikely to improve their situation when Madrid giants Atletico roll into town.

Atleti lost 3-0 at Vallecano in their last away league fixture, but this should be a routine win. The last two meetings have finished 2-0 to Los Colchoneros and that looks the way to go again.

Score prediction: Real Oviedo 0-2 Atletico Madrid

Elche vs Espanyol (Sunday, 1pm)

These two sides are in poor shape and a narrow away win looks the likely outcome.

Elche are winless in nine matches in all competitions, while Espanyol have not won in eight, but they can end that drought on Sunday.

Score prediction: Elche 0-1 Espanyol

Valencia vs Osasuna (Sunday, 3.15pm)

Osasuna beat Real Madrid 2-1 last time out and that looks like a solid correct score in this clash.

Valencia have lost four of their last five matches, beating only fellow strugglers Levante in that run, while Osasuna are unbeaten in eight and won 2-1 at Celta Vigo on their last road trip.

Score prediction: Valencia 1-2 Osasuna

Real Betis vs Sevilla (Sunday, 5.30pm)

Four of the last seven Seville derbies have finished in draws, but Real Betis are fancied to edge this latest dust-up.

Sevilla have won just two of their last 10 matches and were beaten 2-0 by their bitter rivals earlier this term and a similar outcome looks likely.

Score prediction: Real Betis 2-0 Sevilla

Girona vs Celta Vigo (Sunday, 8pm)

Four of the past six meetings between these two sides have finished all square and Girona can hold firm against their high-flying visitors.

The hosts are in a good moment, losing just two of their last 10 matches in all competitions and they beat Barcelona 2-1 in their last home outing.

Score prediction: Girona 2-2 Celta Vigo

Real Madrid vs Getafe (Monday, 8pm)

Real Madrid could be four points behind leaders Barcelona by the time this match takes place, but even if Barca fail to extend their lead at the top, Real will be desperate to stay in touch with their old foes.

City rivals Getafe are unlikely to stop them as they were beaten by Sevilla last time out, however, prior to that they were unbeaten in four, winning twice.

Score prediction: Real Madrid 2-1 Getafe
