Anthony Gordon assisted twice in 25 minutes on Barcelona debut and the Spanish media has been quick to hail the Englishman's efforts.

Gordon stepped onto the field in a competitive match for the first time since July 15, when he opened the scoring for England in the World Cup semi-final against Argentina. The Three Lions went on to lose that game, sitting back and inviting the attack from the side who went on to be defeated in the final.

Gordon's Barcelona had no such issues on his debut, as they thrashed Elche 5-0 to put down a marker as they look to secure a third successive LaLiga title.

Gordon was only introduced with 25 minutes to go, replacing superstar winger Lamine Yamal, and had an instant impact, assisting Raphinha within two minutes of coming on.

The former Newcastle man cut through the defence and aimed a perfect pass to the Brazilian, before four minutes later finding himself through on goal, and with Fermin Lopez for support, laid the ball off for the midfielder.

Two assists inside six minutes of a 25-minute display show Barcelona have a top player and an immediate return on their £69million transfer.

Spanish media love Anthony Gordon already

The Spanish media are already raving about the Englishman after his returns on debut.

Per AS, Gordon 'dazzled' and 'blew the game open' with 'blistering pace and outstanding decision-making'.

Marca claimed Gordon put on an 'attacking masterclass' and has helped Barca show they are ready to defend their title, while Mundo Deportivo state the winger was simply 'unstoppable.'

If those are the thoughts after just 25 minutes of competitive action, then Gordon could be in line to become a household name in no time if he can continue his form when he's given the nod to start matches.

Raphinha, Yamal and Karim Adeyemi were the attackers picked to start against Elche, while Dani Olmo joined Gordon in being introduced from the bench.

While there's a lot of talent to overcome in order to start for the Blaugrana, the debut from the Scouse winger has certainly not done him any harm.
