Official: Real Madrid send Manuel Angel to Fulham in €4m deadline-day deal
Real Madrid had finished their operations to reinforce the first team a few weeks ago, making Yan Diomande the last new addition to Jose Mourinho’s team. However, he was not their last signing, as they also signed the midfielder Sergio Martinez from Racing Club, albeit for the reserve team for the time being.
However, the Merengues were still working on the deadline day of the transfer window. On this last day, they completed one notable operation, i.e., the departure of the young midfielder Manuel Angel.
As MARCA has reported, Real Madrid have officially announced the transfer of 50% of the youngster’s rights to the English side Fulham in exchange for €4 million. Thus, after having landed Gonzalo Garcia and Cesar Palacios, Alvaro Arbeloa has now signed another promising youngster from his former club.
The Spanish coach was previously looking to land another midfielder from the Merengue club, namely Thiago Pitarch. However, Los Blancos and Jose Mourinho both ruled out his departure, which made Arbeloa turn to Manuel Angel, who was facing a particularly difficult summer in the Spanish capital.
Angel had played an important role in the first team, under Arbeloa, in the second half of the last season. However, he was unable to participate in the preseason with Mourinho and was also sidelined from the Castilla team. Meanwhile, Arbeloa had been closely monitoring the situation of his captain during his time at La Fabrica, and has now provided him with a way out of his difficult situation.
This can turn out to be a good move for all the involved parties. Arbeloa will get a trusted player in his squad as he looks to make his name in the most competitive of European competitions, the Premier League. Manuel Angel will get to play under a manager who trusts him, and will have the platform to showcase his talents at the highest level.
Meanwhile, Real Madrid found a team for the youngster where he will get more consistent playing time, while also retaining some control over his future.
