Official: English referee Oliver and Scottish VAR appointed for Real Madrid vs. Inter

English referee Michael Oliver has been appointed for Inter’s opening Champions League game of the season away at Real Madrid.

English referee Oliver will oversee Tuesday’s Champions League match between Inter and Real Madrid at the Estadio Bernabéu, UEFA confirmed on Sunday.

The assistants are Stuart Burt and James Mainwaring, also from England, like fourth official Sam Barrott and Assistant Video Assistant Referee Michael Salisbury, while Scottish official Andrew Dallas will oversee VAR.

Inter will travel to Madrid on the eve of the game tomorrow, but must assess their star Federico Dimarco, who sustained a mild knee sprain during Saturday’s 3-2 victory against Napoli at San Siro.

The meeting between Inter, Cristian Chivu, and José Mourinho at the Bernabéu will be particularly intriguing, as the Special One won the 2010 Champions League with the Nerazzurri at that very venue.

Inter have won all three of their Serie A games this season, while Real Madrid have two La Liga wins but lost their most recent league game against Real Betis.
