Marc Cucurella hopes Enzo Fernandez earns 'lucky' Real Madrid move from Chelsea

Marc Cucurella has detailed his hope that former Chelsea team-mate Enzo Fernandez is "lucky" and gets to join him at Real Madrid.

Cucurella has signed for Real from Chelsea, despite recently suggesting he was happy at Stamford Bridge. Jose Mourinho is believed to have had a large say in the Spaniard making the decision to move.

The left-back's former Blues team-mate, Fernandez, has long been a target for Real, and it's up in the air whether or not he remains a Chelsea player this summer.

Cucurella has told Radio Marca he hopes Fernandez joins him in the Spanish capital.

He said: "He is a great player and he’s a friend of mine. He congratulated me on my signing [for Madrid]. Let’s hope it gets done. I’d be very happy.

"We’ve been very happy at Chelsea, and both having the chance to sign for Madrid in the same summer… let’s hope he’s lucky, and he becomes a Real Madrid player."

Fernandez leaving Chelsea would mean they'd be losing one of their very best players, who has performed consistently and become a vital part not only of the side, but the leadership team.

Fernandez will cost huge sum

Should he depart Stamford Bridge, Fernandez will command a huge sum. Having signed for the Blues for £107million in 2023, the club will want more than that for the midfielder.

Various different sums have been floating around in reports.

Over £100million is the accepted range, and one report has suggested it'll be £120million.

In any case, should Real have an offer accepted for Fernandez, he's ready to fly to Spain and put pen to paper.

Indeed, it's been suggested he's agreed a move there in principle, ready to pen a deal until 2032. Mourinho, like with Cucurella, is believed to be leading the charge for the midfielder.

Whether Real get the move done remains to be seen, with a lot of moving parts yet to be put in place, but the Spanish club are ready to push hard and they have the midfielder on their side already.

He'd become the latest world-class star in a squad including the likes of Kylian Mbappe and Jude Bellingham.
