Gabriel Jesus set for Arsenal exit as Barcelona agree cut-price €10m fee for forward

Barcelona have agreed deal to sign Gabriel Jesus from Arsenal for a fee in the region of £8.5m.

Jesus is set to travel to Catalonia for a medical after Barcelona reached an agreement with Arsenal for the forward. The Spanish champions have been working to sign at least one centre-forward before the transfer deadline, following the departures of Robert Lewandowski and Ferran Torres this summer.

Barcelona have been frustrated in an attempt to sign Julian Alvarez from Atletico Madrid, who have said there is a zero percent chance the club will do business with their La Liga rivals.

Jesus has now been targeted as a cost-effective option to add depth, having been informed that he has no future at Arsenal. Fabrizio Romano has confirmed a deal is in place for Jesus to move to the Camp Nou for €10m (£8.5m) plus add-ons.

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta had informed Jesus that he could leave the club this summer, as the Gunners look to reduce their squad. The 29-year-old has been blighted by injuries since an impressive debut season at Arsenal and started only three Premier League games last season.

Both Kai Havertz and Viktor Gyokeres have been preferred at centre-forward with Jesus deemed surplus to requirements at the Emirates.

Speaking about Jesus' future at Arsenal, Arteta said via Hayters this week: "Well, it's something to do with the numbers that we have in the squad at the moment and the way we're managing that kind of situation individually with all the players that have some personal situations."

Jesus joined the North London side from Manchester City in a £45m deal in 2022 and has scored 32 goals in 123 games for Arsenal.

He will reunite with former Manchester City teammates Joao Cancelo and Rodri at the Camp Nou and departs the Premier League as a five-time title winner in English football.
