Eduardo Camavinga finally understands his primary problem at Real Madrid
Real Madrid midfielder Eduardo Camavinga realises that he has to work a lot on his consistency and being focusde on the pitch, he revealed in a press conference on Sunday.
A day before France’s game against Belgium in the UEFA Nations League, Camavinga was the player giving interviews at the presser.
He was asked about the way he has started this season, the things he has to improve and what he needs to change as a footballer to become a starter at Real Madrid, to which he gave quite an honest answer.
He said: “Consistency, for sure. I have had good performances, but I need to be more consistent. I need to stay focused on the pitch, and make less mistakes."
What Eduardo Camavinga needs to do is a lot easier said than done
It is so much easier said than done, but these are the little things you expect these players to talk about. Real Madrid are a club of high expectations – at least, they are supposed to be – which is exactly why these players need to be held to that standard.
Camavinga would have been sold by now if he played the way he has in these last few seasons in the three-peat era. Real Madrid have not looked like that team as of late, neither on nor off the pitch, which is why it is difficult for even players to feel that pressure, but that has to change immediately.
Real Madrid need a good version of Camavinga, who is consistent and an improvement on the player he was when he first joined in 2021.
If anything, Camavinga looks like he has only gone backwards, because he is making mistakes that, even when he was a 19-year-old rookie at the club, he did not make.
These are really important years for the player. Camavinga, based on his form and consistency in the last two seasons, should no longer be a Real Madrid player. However, if he is given an opportunity to succeed and win back his fans, he must take it in the best possible manner.
It is much easier to say that he just needs to work on his consistency than to actually do it, because working on consistency is just short for he needs to be better all the time. It is not as easy as working on passing, or dribbling, or tracking runners.
If Camavinga wants to be the player everyone knows he can be, he needs to finally take the next step in his career as a 24 year old, before he loses his spot to someone else.
