Barcelona are working to improve the contracts of several young players, rewarding the performances they have delivered and the bigger roles they have taken on under Hansi Flick since the summer transfer window closed.

According to the Spanish newspaper "Mundo Deportivo", Barcelona completed six heavyweight signings during the summer, bringing in Rodri, Anthony Gordon, Karim Adeyemi, Gabriel Jesus and Joao Cancelo, alongside the talented Jesse Bicho.

The sporting management have not stopped there. With the window shut, the time has come to reward the young players who have earned a rise, thanks to their displays and their growing presence in Flick's squad.

Hamza Abdel Karim, 18, is one of the most notable examples. He impressed in pre-season as an out-and-out striker, so the club improved his salary and the value of his release clause while extending his contract by a further year, so that it now runs until 2030.

Four other young players have proven they possess great ability, and Barcelona intend to take the same step with them. Two already boast significant experience under Flick: Marc Bernal, 19, and Gerard Martin, 24.

Bernal has a contract until 2029 and has already entered talks with the sporting management over a pay rise.

The club backed him after his knee injury by improving his terms and raising his release clause to 500 million euros, with a promise to revisit the deal should he deliver. And deliver he has since recovering, so the time has now come to wrap up the new contract, with Deco having already contacted his agent Raul Verdu.

Gerard Martin is next in line. Tied to the club until 2028 with a release clause worth 100 million euros, he is another key figure for Flick.

Barca want to keep him for extra years while raising his salary and release clause, and the player is aware of the club's wish.

Also on the list is Xavi Espart, 19, who represents Flick's biggest bet this season.

Espart signed a deal in 2025 running until 2028, but at the time he earned a salary and financial terms geared towards a reserve-team player.

Now that he has a first-team number, he deserves a salary improvement. His agent is the same one who represents Ferran Torres, though the club expects no problems over the renewal.

Bryan Farinas, 20, is the last name on the list. Tied to a contract until 2028, he was close to joining Girona, but Flick decided to keep him after Frenkie de Jong's injury and he now has a first-team number.

Farinas currently earns a reserve-team salary, so it needs adjusting to match his significant role, and he is expected to sign a contract until 2031.

One more renewal is on the agenda: Raphinha, 29, whose contract expires in 2028. Sporting director Deco confirmed as much in statements to "RAC 1", but no moves have yet begun on the deal.
