A formal decision from Simeone settles Alvarez's situation against Sevilla

A complicated fate in the transfer market

Diego Simeone has named his Atletico Madrid squad for Saturday's third-round La Liga clash with Sevilla.

The big surprise was Cristian Romero. The Argentine defender has shaken off his physical problems, and his return hands Atletico a serious boost at the back.

Julian Alvarez, however, did not make the cut. His omission comes after a week of tension between the striker and the club.

Simeone confirmed the exclusion in his press conference, explaining that Alvarez had missed some training sessions after refusing to take part.
