Real Madrid have made a 100 per-cent start under Xabi Alonso
Atletico Madrid have made their worst start under Diego Simeone
Barcelona have dropped points already
Heading into Week 4 of the campaign, Real Madrid and Athletic Bilbao are the only clubs to have won all three of their LaLiga matches this term.
Los Blancos face a tricky trip to San Sebastian on Saturday afternoon while Alaves travel to the San Mames for an all-Basque battle later in the day.
Champions Barcelona dropped points at Rayo Vallecano last time out and will aim to avoid another slip-up at home to Valencia on Sunday while the final game on the slate is also in the city as Espanyol entertain Real Mallorca on Monday.
It all kicks off with Elche’s trip to the Ramon Sanchez-Pizjuan to face Sevilla on Friday and we’ve got score predictions for all 10 fixtures right here.
Sevilla vs Elche (Friday, 8pm)
New Sevilla coach Matias Almeyda must remedy a poor recent home record, but the returns from injury of Adnan Januzaj, Ramon Martínez and Djibril Sow, as well as the availability of four signings — Cesar Azpilicueta, Batista Mendy, Fabio Cardoso and Alexis Sanchez — should ensure Elche leave Andalucia empty-handed.
Score prediction: Sevilla 2-1 Elche
Getafe vs Real Oviedo (Saturday, 1pm)
With only one goal to show from three matches back ion the top-flight, it will be tough for Getafe to stay out of the relegation shake-up. Getafe are tough to beat at home and their high press could suffocate the visitors into submission.
Score prediction: Getafe 2-0 Real Oviedo
Real Sociedad vs Real Madrid (Saturday, 3.15pm)
Despite Imanol Alguacil stepping down in the summer, Real Sociedad remain just as inconsistent as ever.
They should be there for the taking if Real Madrid turn up with the right attitude and personnel. Xabi Alonso has got his side pressing high and it should work wonders against their struggling hosts.
Score prediction: Real Sociedad 0-3 Real Madrid
Athletic Bilbao vs Alaves (Saturday, 5.30pm)
Ernesto Valverde’s side have a great chance to make it four wins from four against stubborn, compact opponents who earned a 1-1 draw with Atletico Madrid last time out.
But with Nico Williams and Oihan Sancet pulling the strings, the Lions should dominate and eventually find a weak link in the Alaves armour to prey on.
Score prediction: Athletic Bilbao 2-0 Deportivo Alaves
Atletico Madrid vs Villarreal (Saturday, 8pm)
Diego Simeone’s men have made their worst start to a league campaign since 2009/10, taking only two points from their first three matches.
And it will be no easy task for them to sink the Yellow Submarines, who have conceded only once in their opening trio of fixtures.
Score prediction: Atletico Madrid 1-1 Villarreal
Celta Vigo vs Girona (Sunday, 1pm)
Girona boss Michel Sanchez will hope a bunch of new faces can spark a revival after his side lost their third league game in a row at home to Sevilla last time out.
Three points remains unlikely while their new signings get up to speed, but Celta have failed to win any of their first three at Balaidos, which is undergoing major renovations at one end. The visitors can nick a draw in Galicia.
Score prediction: Celta Vigo 1-1 Girona
Levante vs Real Betis (Sunday, 3.15pm)
Real Betis fans are eagerly awaiting the second coming of Antony and the ex-Manchester United winger has apparently put himself in the frame to start against Levante.
Manuel Pellegrini needs another creative outlet in a team that has badly lacked penetration so far. Barcelona found Levante tougher than billed and Betis may drop points again here.
Score prediction: Levante 1-1 Real Betis
Osasuna vs Rayo Vallecano (Sunday, 5.30pm)
LaLiga’s sixth strongest home team in 2024/25 face the division’s sixth-best travellers from last season and the result could hang on which team scores the first goal.
Osasuna have won five of these clubs last six top-flight meetings and might just have enough about them to secure a much-needed 1-0 win.
Score prediction: Osasuna 1-0 Rayo Vallecano
Barcelona vs Valencia (Sunday, 8pm)
Embarrassingly for Barca, the Nou Camp is not ready to play host to this fixture so it’s been switched to Estadi Johan Cruyff and set to be played in front of a paltry 6,000 home fans.
The venue is unlikely to provide the necessary inspiration for Valencia, who lost all three meetings with the Blaugrana last season by an aggregate score of 14-2.
Score prediction: Barcelona 2-0 Valencia
Espanyol vs Real Mallorca (Monday, 8pm)
Espanyol look to have kicked on as a club in their second season back in LaLiga and can overcome a Mallorca side that are yet to win and lack creativity in the final third.
Score prediction: Espanyol 2-0 Real Mallorca
