  • Red Star have won six successive matches in all competitions

  • Lille have lost their previous two matches against Red Star

  • Recommended bet: Red Star to win

Red Star head into this second leg of their Europa League knockout play-off tie eyeing a seventh consecutive win in all competitions.

They defeated Lille 1-0 in France last week to establish a lead heading into the second leg, so a win or draw will see them move into the last 16.

Lille's form has been indifferent of late. The Ligue 1 outfit defeated Angers in the league last weekend, but this was their first top-flight win since mid-December.

Indeed, Lille have won just twice in all competitions in 2026 and head into this game bereft of confidence.

Team news

Red Star will be missing winger Vladimir Lucic as he is suspended for the clash, having picked up a booking last week.

This is currently the only absentee for the home side, however, as they head into this game at near full strength.

Hamza Igamane is a long-term absentee for Lille, with the likes of Alexsandro, Thomas Meunier, Ethan Mbappe Lottin and Ousmane Toure also missing the match.

Osame Sahraoui and Marc-Aurele Caillard remain doubts ahead of the second leg in the Serbian capital on Thursday.

The stats

These two sides have met only twice in competitive matches, with both occurring this season.

In the group stage the Serbian side won 1-0, before sealing another single-goal victory last week in the first leg of this tie.

The club are going for a seventh consecutive win in all competitions on Thursday and have won seven of their eight games in 2026 thus far.

Since the turn of the year, Lille have scored just six goals across their 11 matches in both European and domestic competitions. Furthermore, they have failed to score two or more goals in any of those 11 games.

Both teams have found the back of the net in just four of their 11 matches. For Red Star, both sides have scored in just three of their eight games this year.

Aleksandar Katai is Red Star's top scorer with 18 this season. For Lille, Igamane has nine goals, with nobody in the squad registering double figures for goals this season.

Prediction

Red Star head into this clash brimming with confidence and have a wonderful chance of sealing progress into the last 16.

They reached this stage during the 2021/22 season, before suffering a 4-2 aggregate defeat to Rangers.

Lille need something to happen in order to rejuvenate their campaign. A 1-0 deficit is not the worst place to be heading into the second leg, but they must surely score the first goal to stand a chance.

Expect the home side to make it three wins in a row against Lille this season, however.
