Derek McInnes' Rangers face a tough Europa League test in Poland against Jagiellonia Bialystok.

Rangers had to come from behind to earn a 1-1 draw in their Scottish Premiership opener at Dundee United and they face a testing trip to Jagiellonia Bialystok in Europa League qualifying.

New manager Derek McInnes takes the Gers to Poland to face a Jagiellonia side who reached the knockout stages of last season's Conference League before losing 5-4 on aggregate to Fiorentina.

Team news

Jagiellonia Bialystok's summer signing Rodrigo Conceicao made his first start for the club last week and should keep his place in midfield.

Rangers have issues at the back as Ben Godfrey is injured and John Souttar and Clinton Nsiala are not expected to travel.

New signing Olwethu Makhanya is awaiting a visa and is doubtful for the trip to Poland, so Dujon Sterling may partner Emmanul Fernandez in central defence.

The stats

Jagiellonia Bialystok have won five of their last six competitive matches, while only two of their last 14 league games featured over 3.5 goals.

Three of Jagiellonia's last nine European matches ended 1-1.

Both teams have scored in Rangers' last nine games, while the Gers have lost nine of their last 11 European ties.

There have been over 3.5 goals in 10 of Rangers' last 14 matches.

Prediction

McInnes narrowly missed out on leading Hearts to Scottish Premiership glory last season and expectations will be even higher at Rangers.

He is hoping for a warm welcome at Ibrox this weekend, when he takes charge of Rangers against Hibernian in the Premiership.

However, his immediate focus is on Thursday's Europa League qualifying first leg away at Jagiellonia, who look a tempting bet to defeat the Gers.

The Poles finished second in the Ekstraklasa last season and enjoyed an impressive campaign in the Conference League.

Their only defeat in six league-phase matches in Europe was a 2-1 loss to Rayo Vallecano, who went on to lose to Crystal Palace in the final.

And the Poles gave Fiorentina a scare in the play-off round, overturning a 3-0 deficit to take the tie to extra-time in Florence before losing 5-4 on aggregate.

While Jagiellonia have won their first two league games this term, Rangers looked disjointed in their opening 1-1 draw at Tannadice.

McInnes' pre-season plans have been disrupted by doubts over the futures of key men Souttar and Nicolas Raskin.

He is short of available defenders for Thursday's away leg and Rangers had a tough time in Europe in 2025-26.

Their Champions League qualifying run ended with a humiliating 9-1 aggregate defeat to Club Brugge and they lost six of their eight matches in the Europa League, scoring only five goals.
