Two evenly-matched teams meet in Germany in the Europa League semi-final second leg when Freiburg, who are aiming to overturn a 2-1 deficit, host Sporting Braga.

Last week's first leg went the way of the Portuguese outfit, but only just, as Mario Dorgeles' injury-time effort edged them in front.

However, Freiburg are favourites to win the second leg and all the signs are that this tie could be settled by the finest of margins.

Team news

Braga do not expect Diego Rodrigues, Sikou Niakate or Adrian Leon Barisic to return for the second leg, while Florian Grillitsch and Francisco Chissumba will both be assessed.

Freiburg are still without long-term injured pair Patrick Osterhage and Max Rosenfelder, while Florent Muslija is also still in the treatment room.

The stats

The two sides had identical records in the league phase, winning five of their eight games, drawing two and losing once.

Freiburg are on a four-game winless run in all competitions.

The German side have only lost two home games in all competitions all season, though.

Braga have lost just one of their last nine matches.

Both teams drew 1-1 domestically at the weekend, Braga against Estoril and Freiburg against Wolfsburg.

Prediction

Braga were just about deserved winners last week, winning the shot count 13-10, while they also had more shots on target (6-2), won more corners (3-1) and shaded possession.

However, overall, it was still a tight clash and the second leg looks set to be something of a repeat.

These two were only separated by goals scored in the league phase of the competition after they both won five, drew two and lost one of their first eight games.

They even ended up with the same goal difference, so a very competitive second leg is anticipated, although Freiburg are tipped to edge it at home.

The Bundesliga side have been particularly strong at home in the Europa League this season, winning all 10 of their games in the competition so far, with their results in the knockout rounds at their Europa-Park Stadion outstanding following a 5-1 rout of Braga at home in the last 16 and a 3-0 success in the quarters over Celta Vigo.

Braga have proved themselves capable on the road in Europe, though, beating Real Betis 4-2 in the previous round, while they also won at Celtic and Nice in the league phase.

It looks almost too tight to call, but Freiburg can at least be in front in the second leg at full-time, even if it means extra-time and penalties may be required to find a winner.
