Besiktas hold a narrow first-leg advantage against Hradec Kralove and the Turkish outfit are expected to progress to the play-off round in the Europa League without too many problems.

Last week's 1-0 win away means Besiktas are firmly in control of this third qualifying round tie and they should be too strong again for their Czech opponents.

Team news

Besiktas will be without Kassoum Ouattara after he was sent off in the first leg.

Elsewhere, Vincenzo Italiano is tipped to largely stick with the same side that served him well in the first leg, but experienced midfielder Wilfred Ndidi is fit again after an ankle injury and could be recalled, while Felix Uduokhai is also available following a recent ban.

Summer signing from Arsenal, Leandro Trossard, was not registered in time for UEFA competitions at this stage.

Hradec have no new reported injuries to contend with. Among their key men are defenders Frantisek Cech and Filip Cihak, while Mick van Buren and Ondrej Mihalik could be their chief attacking threats.

The stats

Besiktas won the shot count 22-13 in the first leg, which was was the first competitive meeting between these two teams.

The Turkish side won to nil in both games in the previous round, beating FC Midtjylland 1-0 at home and 2-0 away.

Besiktas finished fourth in their domestic Super Lig last season.

Hradec Kralove beat Tromso 4-1 on aggregate in the previous qualifying round.

The Czech outfit came fourth domestically last season and are fifth this term with two wins from their first three matches.

Prediction

The hard-earned 1-0 win was quietly impressive from Besiktas as they only went in front with 10 minutes to go and that came after they had been reduced to 10 men shortly before.

It was no more than the Black Eagles deserved, though, as they had largely dominated at the Malsovicka Arena, posting 22 attempts in total, compared to Hradec's 13.

Overall, Besiktas have the greater European pedigree and will now expect to also control the second leg at home in Istanbul.

Vincenzo Italiano's side have won all three of their competitive outings so far this season to nil, having beaten FC Midtjylland 1-0 and 2-0 in the previous qualifying round, so we should probably expect something similar on Thursday.

Hradec Kralove got past Tromso in the second round of qualifying, winning on aggregate 4-1, but this is a much tougher test and they are likely to be found wanting.
