Emile Heskey doesn't get why Leicester haven't re-signed Jamie Vardy

Leicester City need nothing more than Jamie Vardy to return, alongside getting rid of The King Power International Group. It is that simple for the Leicestershire side.

Out of any 'realistic' signings the Foxes could plausibly make, the infamous centre-forward could fire them to the top of League One even as he prepares to turn 40. "Vards" proved that he can still provide the goods at the top level last season with Italian club Cremonese.

Yet the one-time Cremo man has thrown cold water over the possibility of rejoining the Filbert Way team. LCFC hero Emile Heskey definitely wants that eventuality to occur, though he appears to totally be in the dark in this instance.

I don't know why they haven't even gone back and got him, to be honest with you. I'll take him back in a heartbeat.Heskey - GOAL

As a matter of fact, the former England striker does not understand why the East Midlands club "have not even gone back and got him [Vardy], to be honest with you", in his pretty down-to-earth phrasing. That is not a swipe at the ex-Fox: this writer actually met him once, and Heskey was more than happy to offer his signature even though he was busy.

Why Jamie Vardy won't make Leicester City comeback

Basically, the rumour is that Rebekah and Jamie do not appreciate, or even get on with, LCFC chief football officer (then director of football) Jon Rudkin. To be fair, she confirmed the animosity on her Instagram account, and reports suggest she was overheard saying "not while Jon Rudkin's there" in response to the question of whether Jamie would ever return or not posed by fans.

The 39-year-old himself has also poured cold water on the idea, stating recently: "No, I think that's gone. I’ll always support them, always follow them. I think that’s the best thing I can do now". His emotional farewell after 13 memorable years, 200 goals and that incredible 2015‑16 Premier League title triumph had already signalled the end of an era.

Although every member of the Blue Army wishes to have Vardy back leading the line, that scenario now appears impossible. Heskey's frustration is widely shared, but off‑field differences have created a barrier that even a club legend may not be able to cross.
