Dan Gore emerges as Luton target after standout Rotherham season

Manchester United midfielder Dan Gore, 21, is set to join Luton Town on loan, according to Daily Mail journalist Nathan Salt, with Jack Wilshere having targeted him for the club’s League One promotion bid.

Salt reported that Gore is heading to Kenilworth Road after winning Rotherham United’s Player of the Season award. Gore is known for his energy, press resistance, tenacity and progressive ball-carrying.

Not everyone is treating the move as finalised. BBC Manchester United reporter Simon Stone said Gore is in advanced talks with Luton, although a deal is still to be agreed.

Why Luton are moving for him

Gore’s route to this point has included several injury setbacks. A Port Vale loan was cut short after a single appearance, shoulder trouble sidelined him for the first half of the 2024-25 campaign, and a foot injury following his January 2025 switch to Rotherham kept him out for months.

Rotherham retained their belief in Gore and signed him for another loan spell for the 2025-26 season. Across 42 appearances in all competitions during his second stint at the club, he showcased the qualities that had impressed academy observers and was voted Rotherham’s Player of the Season by the club’s supporters.

That form has led to interest from Luton as the club pursues promotion from League One.

The move has not yet been confirmed. An injury-free season at Kenilworth Road could give Gore the opportunity to help Luton pursue a return to the Championship while improving his own prospects at Manchester United.
