Defender Kristoffer Lund came onto the pitch as a late-game substitute for Birmingham City as they rallied from a first-half deficit to defeat Derby County 2-1. Lund came into the match during second-half stoppage time with the result all but secured.
George Campbell comes on late as West Brom secures result with QPR
Like Lund, George Campbell came on as a late-game substitute as West Brom could only manage a 1-1 draw against QPR in what was a battle between two early-season promotion contenders. Campbell entered the match just after the 90th minute. Both goals came during the later stages of the first half.
Jack McGlynn scores first Championship goal as Stoke City extends their unbeaten run
Former Houston Dynamo midfielder Jack McGlynn scored his first Championship goal during first-half stoppage time in what ended up being a 2-1 win for Stoke City against Watford. McGlynn ended up playing 90 minutes before being subbed off for Ben Pearson.
Luca Bombino came on in the 79th minute and recorded two tackles and a foul.
Stoke City built a 2-0 lead just before the hour mark, but Watford ended up halving that advantage during second-half stoppage time.
Sebastian Berhalter records a brace, two other Americans appear as Middlesbrough record shaky-but-strong win against Norwich City
USMNT midfielder Sebastian Berhalter stole the show in Middlesbrough's return to Championship action after a midweek loss to Crystal Palace in the third round of the EFL Cup. Their return was a little concerning but nonetheless positive, as they recorded a 4-3 win at home against Norwich City.
There were three goals scored in the opening 10 minutes of play. Norwich City scored the first goal of the match in the first minute, but Berhalter levelled the score three minutes later. Middlesbrough claimed the lead three minutes later, while Berhalter would extend the advantage to 3-1 in the 36th minute. Norwich City rallied to tie the score at three during the second half, but Ashley Phillips would end up winning the game in second-half stoppage time.
Aidan Morris played the full match, recording one shot during his stint. Meanwhile, Max Arfsten came on in the 72nd minute of play. Rokas Pukstas did not play, though he was on the bench.
What's next?
Matchday 6 will formally conclude on Tuesday when the four teams in EFL Cup action play their respective contests.
Only Middlesbrough will be involved in that mid-week mini-slate; they will host Millwall on Tuesday. Kickoff is set for 2:45 p.m. Eastern Time.
