  • Swansea were 2-1 winners at Portsmouth on the same night

  • Recommended bet: Swansea to win

North Wales and South Wales collide in a match with Championship play-off implications.

Hosts Wrexham go into Friday night's showdown in sixth place, trying to fend off a growing list of top-six hopefuls, among them Swansea.

Back-to-back wins have hoisted Swansea into the mix as they now look to make it three victories in a row for the first time since April.

Team news

Wrexham's 11-goal top scorer Kieffer Moore is out with the hamstring strain which forced him to miss Tuesday's 2-1 home loss to Hull.

Midfielder George Dobson is suspended and Phil Parkinson is also without Libby Cacace, Matty James and Ben Sheaf.

Adam Idah and Zeidane Inoussa remain sidelined for Vitor Matos' visitors.

The stats

There have been more goals (64) at the Racecourse Ground this season than any other Championship venue.

The last three meetings between these sides — most recently at Swansea in December — have ended in 2-1 wins for the Swans.

Swansea have led at half-time just seven times in the league this season; only Charlton and Sheffield Wednesday have been in front at the break on fewer occasions.

Swans striker Zan Vipotnik tops the Championship scoring charts with 17 goals — he has scored 39 percent of the Swans' goals this term, the highest percentage of any player in the division.

Prediction

Three away wins since Christmas is hardly the stuff of dreams but suggests Swansea, who were terrible on the road up to that point, are at least getting a grip on playing away from their home ground.

The most recent of that trio of victories came on Tuesday at Fratton Park, Portsmouth's home and a difficult fortress to breach.

And that stands Vitor Matos' men in good stead for another away-day, this time a little closer to home in North Wales against Wrexham.

The Swans head north feeling bullish after taking 10 points from their last five games, the only blemish a 3-0 loss at high-flying Ipswich, and there is never any disgrace going down at Portman Road.

Wrexham were on a three-game winning streak before last weekend's visit from Chelsea in the FA Cup which ended in a luckless 4-2 loss after extra time.

Maybe there was something of a hangover from that epic tussle on Tuesday when they lost 2-1 at home to Hull.

They did look short of ideas in attack, mustering just two shots on target from 63 percent possession, and if they are feeling it then that is a red flag ahead of another tough challenge.

Swansea will never be the most reliable on the road but LiveScoreBet are dangling 39/20 against their name and that looks the value.
