Phil Parkinson has led Wrexham into the Championship play-off places after a strong recent run.
  • Wrexham lost 4-2 to Chelsea after extra-time in the FA Cup at the weekend

  • Hull fifth in the Championship but have lost their last two

  • Recommended bet: Both teams to score

Wrexham pushed Premier League side Chelsea all the way in the FA Cup fifth round clash on Saturday, but eventually lost out 4-2 after extra-time.

While progress would have been great, it now means the Red Dragons can focus entirely on sealing a play-off spot over the next few weeks.

Hull sit one place above Wrexham in the Championship table, but the Tigers come into this game having lost back-to-back matches, although they were to Ipswich and Millwall.

With eight games left, the Tigers are sitting in a decent position, but a defeat against the Red Dragons might open the door for others to challenge.

Team news

Matty James, Ben Sheaf and Liberato Cacace will be absent for the home side due to injury.

Issa Kabore could face a race to be fit for this clash as he sat out the FA Cup game against Chelsea. Elsewhere, George Dobson is suspended after being sent off during the game on the weekend.

For the Tigers, Ryan Giles, Darko Gyabi, Akin Famewa, Yu Hirakawa, Matty Jacob and Mo Belloumi will be unavailable for this game.

Matt Crooks will also miss the match due to suspension, although he will be available for the next game.

The stats

These clubs have already faced off on two occasions this season. In August, Wrexham sent Hull packing from the EFL Cup on penalties after a thrilling 3-3 draw at the Racecourse Ground.

The Tigers got some form of revenge in December, sealing a 2-0 win in the Championship.

This is only the third meeting since 2025 and Wrexham have not defeated City in 90 minutes since 2003.

The Red Dragons have scored three fewer goals than their opponents in the league this season (54 vs 57), but they do have a better defensive record, conceding 45 goals to Hull's 52.

Across Wrexham's 14 games in 2026 both teams have scored in nine of those and that bet would have landed in six of Hull's fixtures in the same period.

With 13 goals Kieffer Moore is the top scorer for the home side this season. For Hull, Oli McBurnie leads the way with 14 goals in all competitions.

Prediction

This fixture is a tough one to call, especially considering only three points separate the two teams in the table.

Wrexham will take plenty of confidence from their performance against Chelsea and could use this to inflict a third successive defeat on Hull.

The Tigers will be determined to avoid this scenario, particularly with several teams gunning for their top-six spot.

There should be plenty of action in both penalty areas in this match and backing both teams to score appears to be the best option.
