West Brom's inconsistency this season has prevented them from challenging for a play-off place and they are much closer to the drop zone than they would like.

The Baggies have lost seven league games and their only wins since the start of October have been against Norwich, Preston and Oxford United, with two of those three teams currently in the relegation places.

For Swansea, things have been even tougher. They come into this game on the back of four successive defeats, with the Swans suffering a 2-1 loss at home to Derby County in midweek.

Heading into this clash, the Welshmen are just two points above the relegation zone.

Team news

Toby Collyer had to come off during the early stages of West Brom's clash with Birmingham in midweek and it remains to be seen whether or not he will feature this weekend.

Alex Williams and Jed Wallace will also be absent, but the duo are in line for a return next month at some stage.

The visitors will be missing Ben Cabango due to a hip injury, while Franco is recovering from a knock so it could be a last-minute decision made regarding his availability. Zan Vipotnik is also touch and go.

The stats

This used to be a regular fixture in the Premier League, but since the start of the 2018/19 campaign, the clubs have faced off against each other 12 times in the second tier.

Both teams have won five games each, with the other two being drawn. Last season, the Baggies took four points from six in this head-to-head, winning at The Hawthorns and drawing in South Wales.

Not much separates the clubs from an attacking viewpoint. Albion have scored 17 goals this term compared to City's 16, but there is a difference defensively.

Indeed, the home side have conceded 20 goals, with Swansea shipping 24 goals across 17 Championship matches.

Prediction

Expect this fixture to be tight and not only because of their status in the league table.

Both teams have two wins apiece in this fixture since the beginning of the 2022/23 season, but they have only been by a single goal.

Considering the two sides have largely struggled in front of goal this term, the game might well be decided by one goal.

Both teams go into the match aiming not to suffer another loss, especially given the fact that they are close to the relegation zone.

The home side are in slightly better form, with just two defeats in their previous five matches, whereas the Swans have not won a game since the end of October.
