West Brom are in real danger of being relegated to the third tier after an abysmal run of form in the Championship.

The Baggies have not won a league game since December 29th, losing seven of their subsequent 13 matches and drawing the other six to leave them languishing down in 23rd place in the table.

Hull, however, could be on the verge of something special this term. The Tigers currently lie fifth in the table and sit nine points ahead of seventh-placed Southampton, while a top-two finish is not yet out of the question.

A win at The Hawthorns could well cement a place in the top six with only eight games of the regular season to go.

Team news

The Baggies will be without a couple of forward players for this clash with City, as Mikey Johnston remains sidelined due to injury and Karlan Grant is still recovering from a hamstring issue.

Tammer Bany, Krystian Bielik and Chris Mepham will also not be involved for Albion this weekend.

The visitors have several players on the treatment table, as Matty Jacob, Darko Gyabi, Yu Hirakawa, Ryan Giles, Akin Famewo and Eliot Matazo will all be missing this weekend.

Matt Crooks has served his two-game ban after picking up 10 bookings in the Championship, which means he is back in the fold.

The stats

These two sides have played each other 20 times since the start of the 2013/14 campaign. West Brom have won 11 of those games, with Hull claiming victory on just four occasions during that period.

The Tigers won the reverse fixture, however, which gives them the chance to seal a first league double over Albion in over 100 years.

Hull have scored 59 league goals this term, which ranks as the third-best attacking record in the division. In contrast, the Baggies have netted just 36 times.

Remarkably, the home side have only conceded one more goal that their opponents this term, despite the two sides sitting at opposite ends of the table.

Both teams have scored in five of the previous seven meetings.

Prediction

Following defeats to Ipswich and Millwall, Hull got back to winning ways with a crucial 2-1 victory over Wrexham in midweek.

That win means the club have some breathing space in the chase for a top-six spot in the Championship.

The Baggies continue to struggle and unless an improvement is seen over the next few games, relegation is a real danger.

Two consecutive draws indicate that they are fighting hard to remain in the division, but wins are required.

Home advantage might help this weekend, but Hull will be on a high from their midweek success and should come away with all three points.
