It has been a tough start to the Championship season for West Ham, who head to an unbeaten Watford on Saturday looking to register their first league win.

The Hammers drew 2-2 at Burnley in their opener before suffering a 2-1 defeat to Charlton at the London Stadium, results which have already put the pressure on head coach Nuno Espirito Santo.

As for the Hornets, they beat Southampton 2-1 on home soil before holding Wrexham to a 1-1 draw at the Racecourse Ground, leaving the club in the play-off places in the early knockings of the campaign.

Team news

Watford are without the services of Kwadwo Baah due to a thigh issue and Marc Bola, who is not expected back until after the international break.

Travis Akomeah has only just started running again after recovering from a partial tear in his foot and is still some time away from returning. Jeremy Ngakia has suffered a setback which will keep him out for a further three weeks.

West Ham are set to remain without the injured pair of Tomas Soucek and Pablo Felipe.

Jarrod Bowen, Manor Solomon and Taty Castellanos are all expected to be recalled to the starting XI after coming off the bench in the EFL Cup win on Tuesday.

The stats

West Ham have won the last five meetings against Watford and four of those five matches have produced at least four goals.

West Ham forward Taty Castellanos has scored three goals in four appearances this season.

The Hammers have netted at least once in nine of their last 12 away fixtures.

Watford managed to keep a clean sheet in just five of their 23 home games in the league last term.

The last goalless draw between these two clubs came in November 2003.

Prediction

While West Ham will be disappointed with their tally of one point from two Championship matches, they have performed better than the results suggest and it will not be long until they register a first league win.

The Hammers conceded two late goals to draw 2-2 against Burnley on the opening weekend and they were wasteful in a 2-1 loss to Charlton, a match in which they had 25 shots compared to the Addicks' seven.

Nuno's side looked better in Tuesday's 4-1 EFL Cup win at Southampton and they can take that confidence into this clash against Watford, who were thumped 5-1 at home to Peterborough that same evening.

A West Ham win forms the first part of this bet builder, with over 3.5 goals the second leg.

There have been four goals or more in three of the Hammers' four outings this season while there were six strikes in the Hornets' last outing.

Round off this bet builder by adding in West Ham's Castellanos to open his league account for the season.

The Argentine has notched three times in the EFL Cup, the latest of those coming at Southampton on Tuesday, and he can punish a Watford defence without a clean sheet in the league since March.

Score prediction: Watford 1-3 West Ham
