  • Seven of Stoke's last eight games have seen both teams score

  • Sheff Wed have scored in four of their last five matches

  • Recommended bet: Both teams to score

Stoke City's hopes of getting into the Championship play-offs have disappeared after a strong start to the campaign, but they will still expect to get the better of Sheff Wed, who have endured a miserable campaign and who were relegated some time ago.

The Potters have won just two of their last 13 games to slip down to 15th in the table, but the Owls have just one victory to their name so far this season and would already have been relegated even if they had not received an 18-point deduction.

However, they have shown some signs of life lately and will not go travel to Potteries without hope, having been a threat in most of their most recent outings.

Team news

The Potters are without goalkeepers Viktor Johansson and Gavin Bazunu, while manager Mark Robins will also have to do without Ben Wilmot, Aaron Cresswell, Lewis Baker and Robert Bozenik.

For the visitors, Murphy Cooper, Liam Cooper, Ernie Weaver, Olaf Kobacki and George Brown are all ruled out, while the game is also likely to come too early for defender Di'Shon Bernard, who is back in training but has yet to feature this season.

The stats

Stoke have won just two of their nine home league games since Christmas.

The Potters have scored at least two goals in their last four home games, while seven of Stoke’s last eight games have had over 2.5 goals.

Wednesday have taken just one point out of 48 in 2026 and have lost 14 of their 19 away games this season.

The Owls have scored in six of their last eight games, despite losing seven and drawing one.

Prediction

It looked as if Stoke would be a real force in the Championship play-off chase this season, but they have faded in the second half of the campaign and would love to have something to smile about when bottom-of-the-table Wednesday come to town on Good Friday.

It is understandable that they are a short price to come out on top against a team who have won just one game all season, but there has been enough from the Owls recently to suggest that they can get on the scoresheet.

That has happened in six of their last eight games, which is no mean feat for a team who have been beaten out of sight for most of the season and the Potters' defensive fragility has been exposed recently.

Mark Robins' side have conceded at least twice in four of their last five games, although they will take some solace from the fact they have scored 10 goals in their last four games on their own patch.

Both teams have scored in six of City's last seven league outings and there is a strong chance that pattern could continue.
