The battle for Championship survival is still very much on for Blackburn Rovers despite a four-game unbeaten run for Michael O'Neill's side.

Rovers have gathered eight points from four games since defeat to relegation rivals Oxford on March 11th, enough to hoist them six points ahead of Leicester in the final relegation place entering this weekend and they will feel one more win would be enough to close the trapdoor behind them.

Stoke's home form is reliable but their woes on the road have ensured the play-offs are out of reach for Mark Robins and his squad.

The Easter Monday defeat at Derby – their 11th road reverse in 21 games this season – left them languishing in 13th spot and condemned to a mid-table finish.

Team news

Tomas Rigo suffered a knock in the defeat at Derby and will be assessed, while South Korean midfielder Bae Jun-ho was subbed on and then off again in that loss with Robins later suggesting players 'have to actually have an impact' after coming on.

Aaron Cresswell and Million Manhoef could earn recalls for the hosts, while Lewis Baker has come off the bench in the last two games after his injury and is closing in on a start, though this game should come too soon for Robert Bozenik.

Rovers have received a double boost as O'Neill has confirmed that both Eiran Cashin and Connor O'Riordan are in contention for this game. Ryan Hedges is back in training but still building fitness.

Danish forward Mathias Jorgensen enjoyed a good 45 minutes off the bench against West Brom and could return to the starting XI at Yuki Ohashi's expense.

The stats

Stoke have won nine and lost six of their last 15 home league meetings with Blackburn.

Rovers are bidding for a fourth successive Championship clean sheet.

Stoke are unbeaten in five at home (W3, D2) and have scored at least twice in each of those games.

The Potters have conceded seven times in those five games, with only Sheffield Wednesday failing to breach their defence.

The reverse game at Ewood Park in October ended in a 1-1 draw, the first Championship stalemate in nine games between these two sides.

Prediction

Stoke's poor form on the road means they are stuck in mid-table, though Robins could still lead them to their best Championship finish since they dropped from the Premier League in 2017/18.

At home they have been much better and are unbeaten in five, though they have still managed just nine wins from 20 games here.

Blackburn have found some steel under O'Neill and a four-game unbeaten run sees them six points clear of the relegation zone.

Clean sheets against Middlesbrough, Birmingham City and West Bromwich Albion have helped them and they look much more resolute now after successive away-day wins at high-flying Millwall and Birmingham.

It finished level at Ewood Park in the autumn between these two and may do so again now, a result more pleasing for the visiting Lancashire side.
