QPR are looking to bounce back from 4-1 home defeat to Ipswich
Saints sacked manager Will Still on Sunday after a miserable start to the season
Recommended bet: Draw
Southampton have won just four out of 51 league games since they gained promotion to the Premier League through the play-offs in 2024 and they begin life after Will Still at QPR on Wednesday, desperate to get their season up and running.
Under-21 manager Tonda Eckert has temporarily taken the reins and the Saints next face a team who also have to get over recent disappointments as Rangers need to react positively to the 4-1 home humbling they suffered against Ipswich at the weekend.

Team news
Rhys Norrington-Davies will be hoping to start following QPR’s defeat to the Tractor Boys, but the Londoners will still be without injured goalkeeper Joe Walsh and full-back Ziyad Larkeche.
There could be numerous changes to the Southampton line-up following Still’s departure but Elias Jelert is injured and Ross Stewart continues to nurse a hamstring problem.
Welington will also be unavailable as he serves the second match of a suspension.

Prediction
It is difficult to decide what to think about Southampton who have been going through a dismal spell and after two wins from their opening 13 games, it looks a realistic possibility that they could follow Luton in suffering two successive relegations.
The caretaker boss will want to make his own mark and an immediate impact has to be the main aim for the visitors, but it is questionable whether they have enough to bounce straight back and grab three valuable points.
However, confidence about QPR is also tempered. They recovered well by going on a six-match unbeaten run following a 7-1 thumping at high-flying Coventry, but the Londoners have now lost three of their last four games.
They were poor when they lost 4-1 at home to Ipswich at the weekend and that is a result that could take a great deal of recovering from.
So it is difficult to have much faith in either side making an instant recovery and the best course of action could be to back the two to cancel each other out as no team in the second tier has had more stalemates than the Saints’ tally of six, and Rangers have already had Loftus Road draws against Preston and Oxford.
