QPR in 12th and Bristol City in 11th meet in West London with only goal difference separating them in the Championship standings.

The winner – if there is one – can still harbour slim hopes of a late dash for the play-offs, while the loser can resign themselves to tier two football again next season. A draw does neither side any good.

Team news

Key midfielders Nicolas Madsen and Ilias Chair are back in training for QPR, though this weekend could be too soon for either after lengthy lay-offs, while Karamoko Dembele is out for the season.

City boss Roy Hodgson hopes right-back Ross McCrorie is fit after missing the win over Sheffield United with a knock.

Luke McNally, Rob Atkinson, George Tanner and Rob Dickie are all still absent.

The stats

The R's have taken 10 points from their last four games, drawing 1-1 at Preston after three straight wins.

City boast a perfect 2-0 record under new boss Roy Hodgson, who has overseen a 2-1 win at Charlton and 1-0 victory at home to Sheff Utd.

Rangers have scored 12 goals in four games, having not netted any goals at all in their previous four.

There have been 69 Championship goals at Loftus Road this season at 3.4 goals per game; only Wrexham's Racecourse Ground has seen more.

City are without a win in five against the Hoops.

Prediction

QPR's meeting with City is, theoretically at least, a game with play-off possibilities, but it is hard to escape the conclusion that this is a mid-table showdown between two teams who will still be in the Championship next season.

And, if they continue their good work over the last few weeks between now and next month, then they will both go into 2026/27 with springs in their steps.

Rangers are scoring goals for fun in a four-game unbeaten run and must be left wondering how they managed to plunge out of the play-off race in February.

The Robins, meanwhile, appointed ex-England boss Hodgson before Easter and he has presided over two wins in two.

So there should at least be a wave of optimism coursing through the stands at Loftus Road, where it is very clearly possible to make a case for both teams.

One bet to stand out is the Evens from LiveScore Bet that the visitors win the first half with the draw no bet.

They went ahead against the Blades thanks to Mark Sykes' 23rd minute strike and held on to that advantage for a 1-0 success.

That was the 15th time the Robins had won the first half this season, a record bettered only by Coventry and Ipswich.
