Team news

Oxford were buoyed this week as they confirmed that defender Sam Long had signed a new contract to extend his 14-year stay at the club as a professional, ensuring he will add plenty to his 307 appearances for the U's.

Matt Bloomfield made two changes to the starting line-up for the loss at Southampton, with Brodie Spencer and Myles Peart-Harris back in for Jamie Donley and Aidomo Emakhu, both of whom enjoyed cameos from the bench.

Brian De Keersmaecker, Tyler Goodrham and Greg Leigh are still sidelined for the hosts.

Regan Slater went off early in Hull's win over Sheffield Wednesday and could miss this trip to the Kassam, with John Lundstram a likely deputy.

Ryan Giles, Darko Gyabi, Yu Hirakawa, Matty Jacob and Eliot Matazo are all set to miss out for the Tigers, but central defender Charlie Hughes is free to return after serving a suspension for his rec card in the loss at West Brom.

The stats

Hull have conceded 57 Championship goals, the second-highest amongst sides in the top 18 spots.

Over 2.5 goals has landed in three of Oxford's previous six games and both teams have scored in the previous two Championship meetings of these two sides.

Hull have the third-best Championship record on the road this season with 10 away wins.

The U's have one clean sheet in their last six league games, while the Tigershave one shutout in the last 10 in league and cup outings.

Prediction

Oxford have picked up 10 points from the last 15 available to breathe some much-needed life into their survival bid and the U's are within four points of safety.

Hull start this round of games in fifth despite three losses in their last five Championship games. Southampton and Wrexham are on their tails and Sergej Jakirovic knows his side have plenty work to do if they are to cling to a play-off berth.

Hull have conceded an alarming 57 goals in the league, including eight in four games recently. Oxford, meanwhile, have scored in five of their last six games.

Both teams found the net in both 2025 Championship meetings between these clubs, with over 2.5 goals obliging in both instances.

Hull have drawn just six of their 39 Championship games and calling an outcome in this Kassam Stadium clash is troublesome, so going with at least three goals looks the best play given that the hosts finally have some momentum under Bloomfield.
