Ipswich Town welcome Wrexham to Portman Road for a Saturday afternoon clash of two in-form Championship clubs.

Two divisions separated these teams last season but now there are only two points between the Suffolk side, who finally seem to be hitting their stride, and the Welsh outfit, who are now unbeaten in five.

Kieran McKenna's team are the second-highest scorers in the Championship and will be aiming to win a fourth game in five after entering November's international break on the back of a 4-1 victory at Swansea.

But Phil Parkinson's Dragons have secured three points against leaders Coventry and promotion-chasing Charlton since Halloween and will not fear the Tractor Boys.

Team news

McKenna has confirmed that Alex Palmer remains short of full fitness after injury, so Christian Walton will remain in goal.

Ipswich's back four picks itself with Darnell Furlong and Leif Davis either side of central defensive duo Dara O'Shea and Jacob Greaves.

Jack Taylor and Azor Mutisiwa are set to continue in midfield, with Jaden Philogene pushing for a recall on the left and Jack Clarke likely to keep his place on the right behind striker George Hirst.

As for the Reds, Parkinson will be forced into one change at wing-back after Issa Kabore picked up an injury early in Burkina Faso's 3-2 friendly win against Niger in Morocco.

Ryan Barnett is among the options to replace the on-loan Manchester City man.

Josh Windass is pushing for inclusion from the start after coming off the bench to score the winner against Charlton last time out.

The stats

These clubs have never before faced each other in league competition, with Wrexham winning their only previous clash in the FA Cup 2-1 in 1995.

George Dobson has made 43 tackles in the Championship this season more than any other player in the division

Wrexham have won three successive home league games, but have won only one of their last five road trips (at Norwich).

Ipswich have registered the second-most shots in the Championship (158) and their tally of 26 goals is only behind Coventry (40).

Ipswich and Wrexham have both hit the woodwork seven times this season, only behind Southampton (nine).

Prediction

This could be quite an open affair between two teams that have grown in confidence over the last month.

Ipswich's tally of 16.1 shots per game is second only to Coventry in the Championship, while Wrexham's total of 17 shots in their last game against Charlton was their second-highest tally of the campaign.

Both goalkeepers could be busy on Saturday with Town keeper Walton, who has been ably deputising for Palmer, worth backing to make three or move saves.

The ex-England Under-21 shot-stopper has registered at least three saves in three of his last five matches and Palmer did in the two before his untimely injury.

Meanwhile, the Reds have forced their opponents' goalkeeper into at least three saves in eight of their last nine games in all competitions.
