  • Derby are eighth in the Championship, four points adrift of the play-off places

  • Stoke are in 12th position, 10 points off the top six

  • Recommended bet: Derby to win to nil

Derby will be eager for an immediate response to Friday's defeat at Coventry when they welcome Stoke to Pride Park for Championship action on Easter Monday.

That 3-2 loss to the Sky Blues has left the Rams four points adrift of the play-off positions and facing an uphill battle to try to force their way into the top six.

As for the Potters, another season in England's second tier is extremely likely given they are 10 points behind sixth-placed Wrexham with just six matches remaining.

Team news

Derby forward Sam Szmodics missed the Good Friday defeat due to concussion protocols but he could be back in the fold for this contest, although Rhian Brewster is sidelined through injury.

Patrick Agyemang was named on the bench against Coventry having represented the United States during the early hours of Wednesday morning and he is expected to be recalled to the starting XI in place of Carlton Morris.

Stoke made six changes for Friday's win over Sheffield Wednesday, with Gavin Bazunu, Bosun Lawal, Aaron Cresswell, Tatsuki Seko, Jesurun Rak-Sakyi and Lamine Cisse all starting.

Head coach Mark Robins may decide to alter his side given the quick turnaround, although he is without Viktor Johansson due to a shoulder issue and both Ben Wilmot and Maksym Talovierov, who are not expected to return from injury this season.

The stats

Derby's loss at Coventry brought an end to their two-game winning streak.

The Rams had kept clean sheets in both of those victories prior to the defeat to the Sky Blues, blanking Portsmouth and Birmingham.

Derby are on a four-match winning run at home.

Stoke have won two of their last three fixtures to keep themselves safely in mid-table.

The Potters have lost their last four games in a row away from home and last won on their travels in January.

Stoke have failed to score in four of their last five trips to Pride Park.

Prediction

With a play-off place unlikely and survival almost mathematically assured, Stoke have little to play for this season and thoughts may already be heading towards the summer and plans for the next campaign.

It is a different story for Derby, who despite Friday's setback at Coventry are still right in the hunt for a top-six finish and will be desperate to get back to winning ways as soon as possible.

The Rams have been excellent at home of late, winning their last four assignments and recording clean sheets in two of those victories, against Swansea and Birmingham.

While Derby are thriving at Pride Park, Stoke are without a win in their last six away fixtures and they have failed to score in three of their last five road matches.

The Potters have also been shut out in four of their last five trips to Derby, who are unbeaten against the Staffordshire outfit in Derbyshire since 2012.
