  • Charlton have won just one of their last five Championship games

  • Wrexham are unbeaten in their last five away league matches.

  • Recommended bet: Wrexham to win

The Premier League dream remains intact for Wrexham following a super start to 2026, with manager Phil Parkinson talking up their hopes of a fourth successive promotion.

Back-to-back wins over Ipswich and Portsmouth in the last seven days have allowed the Red Dragons to build a four-point buffer in sixth spot entering the weekend.

Charlton, meanwhile, are just four places above the relegation zone and the Addicks are still looking over their shoulders with a degree of worry.

Team news

Josh Edwards (ankle), Matt Godden (hamstring) and Harvey Knibbs (ankle) continue to be absent for the hosts and they could be joined by Lloyd Jones, who went off in the midweek draw at West Brom. Experienced defender Conor Coady sits out this clash with his parent club.

Wrexham were forced to deal with some illness issues in midweek, with Parkinson revealing that strikers Kieffer Moore and Sam Smith who netted the opener against Pompey were among those that had suffered.

Signed from Bristol City in January, Zak Vyner has come off the bench in the wins over Ipswich and Portsmouth and should see more game time now. Defender Liberato Cacace is set to miss out again while Ben Sheaf is facing a couple of months out with a knee problem.

The stats

Charlton have won just one of their last four Championship games at The Valley.

Wrexham have taken 13 points from their last five games away from home.

The Welsh side are unbeaten in their last three league games against Charlton, including a 2-2 draw at The Valley last season in League One when Charlton netted a 97th-minute penalty.

Only five teams are averaging more than Wrexham's 1.5 points per game on the road in the Championship this season.

Charlton have scored in 10 of their last 12 Championship games, while Wrexham have netted in 13 of their last 14.

Wrexham have scored nine times across their last three games in the Championship.

Prediction

Wrexham took some time to acclimatise in the Championship but they are now amongst the second tier's form sides. Parkinson's men have claimed 26 points from their 12 league matches since Christmas, more than any other team in the division over the same period.

It has brought them to the play-off places and they have created a buffer from Southampton in seventh, though they will know a win is required as the Saints go to rock-bottom Sheffield Wednesday.

Wrexham were twice pegged back at home against Ipswich last Saturday and fell 3-2 behind just after half-time before scoring three times to win.

They ground out a win against Pompey in midweek and can add another three points now as Parkinson has suggested they will thrive down the home straight.

Charlton were dispatched 3-1 by Portsmouth in their last home game, a match that saw them fall three goals behind and pick up seven bookings.

Wrexham have the bit between their teeth and their goalscoring form bodes well against an Addicks side with just four wins in their last 20 Championship games.
