Charlton and QPR had both made great starts to the season but approach this midweek London derby on the back of weekend defeats.
Three victories from their first five games leave both sides in the top six in the table early on in the campaign, but the Addicks need to respond after being hammered 4-0 at Stoke on Saturday, while Rangers slipped to a 1-0 home loss against Middlesbrough.

Team news
Danny McNamara is suspended for Charlton after being sent off against Stoke, while Billy Koumetio, Collins Sichenje and Nathaniel Chalobah are all still in the treatment room.
Boy Kemper and Karamoko Dembele are absent for the visitors, who are also set to have to make do without Ilias Chair and Richard Kone.
Alfie Lloyd and Glem Kamara are being tipped to return to the Rangers' line-up.
The stats
Both sides have won three, drew one and lost one in the Championship so far this season.
QPR have scored seven goals in five league games, one more than Charlton.
The Addicks have conceded seven goals, three more than Rangers' defence has let in.
Charlton have won both of their home matches, beating Derby 2-1 and Preston 1-0.
Rangers have two wins from two on the road, seeing off Portsmouth 3-1 and Blackburn 2-1.
Last season's meeting at the Valley ended in a 0-0 draw.

Prediction
After winning three of their first four Championship games, Charlton and QPR will have been beginning to think about a promotion charge this season.
However, the ultra-competitive second tier means you can take nothing for granted and they suffered their first defeats of the campaign last time out.
Charlton embarrassed at Stoke when they were 4-0 behind at the break, while the R's were narrowly beaten at home by Boro.
It means they will be trying to respond in midweek and there is a feeling this could end all square, a result which would keep what appear to be two evenly matched sides ticking over nicely in the top half.
QPR have scored seven in their first five outings, one more than the Addicks, but both can get on the scoresheet again in a competitive affair after they drew a blank in their weekend setbacks.
Karlan Grant is among Charlton's biggest attacking threats but he will want to improve on his record of just one goal so far this season.
On a day to forget overall at the weekend, the striker was at least one of the Addicks' more lively players as he managed one shot on target and he can catch the eye in midweek.
