  • Bristol City host Derby at Ashton Gate on Friday night

  • Second-placed Middlesbrough entertain in-form Norwich

  • Promotion-chasing Ipswich face ninth-placed Preston

Bristol City will get the chance to put pressure on their playoff rivals on Friday night when they host Derby in Friday's opening Championship encounter, with the remainder of the Week 30 games taking place on Saturday.

With Coventry's lead at the top having weakened of late and the race for play-off places as tight as ever, we have a score prediction for each of this week's 12 games.

Bristol City vs Derby (Friday, 8pm)

Gerhard Struber's Bristol City returned to winning ways with a 2-0 win over Sheffield Wednesday last week, but they will be up against it when they host the Rams.

Derby are unbeaten in three in the league, with two of those games finishing as away wins at Charlton and Preston. The Rams have the third-best away record in the second tier and can claim a share of the spoils.

Score prediction: Bristol City 1-1 Derby

Leicester vs Charlton (Saturday, 12:30pm)

Leicester play their first game since sacking Marti Cifuentes and they are expected to benefit from a new manager bounce, with Andy King in interim charge.

Charlton have only won one of their last eight games in all competitions, while they have only won two of 15 away games in the Championship this season.

Score prediction: Leicester 1-0 Charlton

Sheffield Wednesday vs Wrexham (Saturday, 12:30pm)

Sheffield Wednesday start life without captain Barry Bannan after his move to Millwall and their long wait for a win should continue.

The Owls are winless since September and face a Wrexham side that has netted two goals or more in their last three away fixtures.

Score prediction: Sheffield Wednesday 0-2 Wrexham

Stoke vs Southampton (Saturday, 12:30pm)

A narrow home win looks the way to go in this tie, with Stoke conceding the fourth-fewest goals at home this season. The Potter have only conceded 12 times on home soil, and face a Southampton side that have only won one in seven on the road.

Score prediction: Stoke 1-0 Southampton

Blackburn vs Hull (Saturday, 3pm)

Blackburn's winless run now stands at eight matches and they look to be taking on Hull at the wrong time. The Tigers have won three on the spin in the Championship and beat Blackburn earlier this month in the FA Cup.

Score prediction: Blackburn 0-2 Hull

Ipswich vs Preston (Saturday, 3pm)

Preston have recently dropped out of the play-off places and look set for a fifth defeat in a row. Paul Heckingbottom's side have not scored for four successive games and next face an Ipswich outfit that have only lost one of their last eight.

Score prediction: Ipswich 2-0 Preston

Middlesbrough vs Norwich (Saturday, 3pm)

Two teams in great form meet at the Riverside Stadium where Middlesbrough host Norwich. The hosts have won four in a row in the Championship around an FA Cup exit at Fulham, while the Canaries have the same record in all competitions.

Their first meeting finished in a goalless draw and another close match should be expected this weekend.

Score prediction: Middlesbrough 1-1 Norwich

Millwall vs Sheffield United (Saturday, 3pm)

Home advantage should be crucial in this clash as Millwall look to make it four wins in a row at home and extend their unbeaten run to five at The Den. The Blades have lost four of their last five on the road, failing to score in three of those ties.

Score prediction: Millwall 1-0 Sheffield United

Oxford vs Birmingham (Saturday, 3pm)

Oxford's last three games at home have contained under 1.5 goals, while five of Birmingham's previous seven have contained under 2.5 goals.

The two sides are expected to cancel each other out in a tense affair.

Score prediction: Oxford 1-1 Birmingham

Portsmouth vs West Brom (Saturday, 3pm)

West Brom's inconsistency means they are tough to back on the road against a Portsmouth side that are unbeaten in three. The hosts have only conceded 15 goals at home this season, an excellent record considering they are under a big threat of relegation.

Score prediction: Portsmouth 1-1 West Brom

QPR vs Coventry (Saturday, 3pm)

Coventry's gap at the top of the table has been reduced to three points and their sticky spell is expected to continue. The Sky Blues are winless in seven away from home and face an R's side that have won seven of their 14 home fixtures.

Score prediction: QPR 2-1 Coventry

Watford vs Swansea (Saturday, 3pm)

Watford have lost only two of their 15 home games this season and Swansea's record of nine defeats in 14 away matches does not suggest they will put up much of a fight.

Score prediction: Watford 1-0 Swansea
