  • West Brom have gone 17 matches away from home without winning

  • Bristol City have accrued just one point from their last five matches

  • Recommended Bet: Draw

West Brom are currently in the midst of a relegation battle with just a point separating them from the drop zone. after a 3-0 home win against Hull halted a run of 11 matches without a success.

Bristol City occupy a safe mid-table position, although their recent results have been indifferent, suffering home defeats against Coventry and Watford.

However, a 1-1 draw away to promotion hopefuls Middlesbrough last week may signal a return to their decent form earlier in the season.

The Robins came away from The Hawthorns with all three points when the teams met on Boxing Day but, given their perilous position, the Baggies will be determined to avenge that defeat.

Team news

City's defence has been decimated by injuries, with George Tanner the latest to be ruled out following an ankle injury sustained in a 2-0 defeat against Leicester last week.

He joins Rob Dickie, Rob Atkinson and Luke McNally on the sidelines.

West Brom goalkeeper Max O'Leary was forced off during the Baggies' 3-0 home defeat of Hull last week.

His replacement, Josh Griffiths, lost his spot as number one to O'Leary in January after some poor performances.

Striker Karlan Grant remains sidelined owing to a hamstring injury.

The stats

West Brom have scored in six of their last seven matches, but no team has lost more on the road in the Championship this season than the Baggies.

City have scored just two goals from their last five matches and have failed to keep a clean sheet in any of their last 10 matches.

Albion have won just once from their last five visits to Ashton Gate, but they have lost just once in their last five matches.

Prediction

It is probably a tad too early to say that mid-table City are already on the beach, but they definitely are not in need of the points in the way West Brom are, so the away side are more likely to be fired up for Saturday's encounter.

The Baggies' 3-0 defeat of Hull was helped by the red card handed out to the Tigers defender Charlie Hughes, but even so the performance was impressive. They had 68 per cent of the possession and managed eight shots on target to the visitors' two.

Manager James Morrison was understandably happy with the victory and will be keen to keep the momentum going, although West Brom's away form is worrying and the possible absence of first-choice keeper O'Leary is another concern.

Holding Boro to a 1-1 draw away from home was "a big push" for City according to manager Gerhard Struber, but their form at Ashton Gate has been patchy and they may be frustrated by an improving West Brom who have lost just once in their last five matches.

A draw looks the most likely result.
