Aside from runaway leaders Coventry, the Championship is wide open this season and two promotion contenders face off on Saturday as Bristol City host Millwall.

The Lions have been something of a surprise package this term and they are up to third in the table after beating Southampton 3-2 last time out.

The Robins are just two points behind their opponents in the table however, currently sitting in sixth position, and this is a clash which could have a major impact on the race for promotion.

Team news

Max Bird, Luke McNally, Josh Stokes and Joe Williams are all expected to miss out for the Robins through injury, although they were boosted by the return of Scott Twine from a hamstring issue in their 1-0 win over Portsmouth at the weekend.

Joe Bryan remains suspended for the visitors, while Will Smallbone, Lukas Jensen, Billy Mitchell, Ryan Leonard, Massimo Luongo and Josh Coburn are unlikely to feature due to injury.

The stats

Millwall have been fairly leaky at the back for a team who are third in the table, their tally of 25 goals conceded is the second-worst in the top half.

The Lions' road trips tend to be much more high scoring, their last three away games have all gone over 3.5 goals.

Bristol City have only won two of their last six matches, but they have won six of their 10 home games this season.

Prediction

A 97th-minute winner over Southampton last weekend means that Millwall will be riding high as they travel to take on Bristol City and they can contribute to a high-scoring clash.

Alex Neil's team tend to be involved in slugging matches on their travels, with eight of their last ten Championship away games seeing both teams score.

They come into this game on the back of a 1-0 win over Portsmouth which manager Gerhard Struber described as their best performance of the season.

With both teams riding high both in confidence and in the table, this could be an entertaining clash and both teams are fancied to get on the scoresheet.
