Blackburn boss Valerien Ismael looks set to be in for a relegation scrap in the Championship
  • Blackburn have won only one of their last 13 league and cup games

  • Watford have won their last two Championship away matches

  • Recommended Bet: Watford to win

Blackburn are in the Championship relegation zone with only two of their seven league wins having been secured at Ewood Park and they could be set for more home disappointment when they Watford visit on Saturday.

Rovers are 22nd in the table after taking only one point from their last four league games, while Watford remain in the hunt for a play-off place in seventh position despite taking only one point from their last two Championship fixtures.

Blackburn won 1-0 when the teams met at Vicarage Road in September with a goal from Ryoya Morishita, but the Japanese midfielder is just one of a lengthy list of injured players Rovers are having to contend with.

Team news

Blackburn are still missing their top goalscorer Andri Gudjohnsen (hamstring) and winger Augustus Kargbo (calf), plus Hayden Carter (calf), Ryan Hedges (fibula), Morishita (ankle) and Lewis Miller (groin).

Ryan Alebiosu could feature on the bench, while Todd Cantwell (concussion) will be assessed.

Watford will be without Othmane Maama (leg) but Rocco Vata made his first appearance since November in midweek after a hamstring injury.

The stats

Blackburn have won only two of their 13 home league matches this season.

Both teams have scored in seven of Watford's last eight away games.

Blackburn have won their last two Championship meetings with Watford.

Rovers have failed to score in five of their last seven matches.

Blackburn's last three Championship matches have finished with over 2.5 goals.

Watford have taken 10 points from their last five league road trips.

Prediction

Watford have had a tough couple of weeks with a 5-1 FA Cup defeat at Bristol City followed by a 2-0 home loss to Millwall and a 1-1 Vicarage Road draw with Portsmouth.

However, the Hornets had won four in a row in the Championship before that, including a 2-1 victory at Leicester and a 1-0 triumph at Norwich in their last two league away games, and they can claim another three points on the road in Lancashire.

Blackburn did not win their first home game this season until late October and they have continued to struggle in front of their own fans, with their first two Ewood Park fixtures of 2026 bringing a 2-0 defeat to Wrexham and a recovery from 2-0 down to draw 2-2 with Charlton.

Valerien Ismael's team have not won any of their last seven games and a 2-0 home win over Millwall has been their only success in 13 matches since the end of November.

Results may well improve when their current injury issues clear up but for now Watford look a solid proposition for an away success.
