Blackburn host QPR at Ewood Park in the Championship on Saturday afternoon and both clubs will be aiming to extend their unbeaten start to the league season.

Having been tipped to struggle this campaign, Rovers have enjoyed two positive results, denied a win over Wolves at Molineux on the opening night of the season thanks to a stoppage-time penalty for the hosts in a 2-2 draw before beating Middlesbrough 2-1 at home.

The R's kicked off their Championship campaign with a 3-1 win over Portsmouth at Fratton Park but had to settle for a point at home to newly-promoted Bolton last weekend.

Team news

Blackburn striker Mathias Jorgensen is out with a hamstring issue. Fellow forward Yuki Ohashi has a similar problem and will be assessed after being forced off after just 11 minutes in Tuesday's Carabao Cup loss against Sheffield United.

QPR are without Boy Kemper after the left-back hurt his ankle 20 minutes into the win at Portsmouth. Full-backs Dennis Cirkin and Tariq Lamptey came off the bench against Bolton and will be pushing for starts.

Hoops winger Karamoko Dembele is a long-term absentee due to an ACL injury.

The stats

Both teams have scored in all four of Blackburn’s matches this season in league and cup, and in two of QPR's three games.

QPR ended last season with eight defeats in 13 league games but are now unbeaten in two.

During his first spell as Rovers manager, Tony Mowbray won 108 of his 267 games (40.45%).

The away team has won five of the last seven meetings between Blackburn and QPR, with the Hoops 1-0 winners at Ewood Park last season while Rovers won 3-1 at Loftus Road.

Prediction

Blackburn have started the Championship brightly and Tuesday night’s Carabao Cup defeat to Sheffield United should not dent the side’s confidence.

Rovers led Wolves on the opening night of the season and it was only an injury-time penalty that denied them victory.

Tony Mowbray’s men then fought back after going a goal behind to Boro to earn a 2-1 win to show that they can compete this season.

QPR have also taken four points from their first two games, beating Portsmouth and drawing with Bolton, but Blackburn’s home advantage can give them the edge after a positive start to the campaign will see fans right behind the team.

Andri Gudjohnsen, who was an unused substitute in the Carabao Cup, has scored in all three games he has played in this season, and the son of former Chelsea striker Eidur can add to his goal tally against QPR.

As for set-pieces, all four games involving Blackburn this season have featured 10 or more corners. The average number of corners taken in QPR’s Championship matches is also 10 so backing over 8.5 corners when the sides meet looks worth considering.

Score prediction: Blackburn 2-1 QPR
